(Gen 24:27) . . . As for me, being on the way, the LORD led me to the house of my master's brethren."
Life is kind of like being in your own movie. It’s full of drama and you really don’t know what’s going to happen next. But no need to worry. The Lord is not only the script writer, He is also the producer and director. God’s not going to turn your precious life into a comedy. And He won’t make your life into a horror flick either. According to the Bible your life will be part drama and part adventure, but in the long run it’s going to be a classic. And He’ll direct you right up to THE END where you’ll ride off into the sunset of heaven itself.
Proverbs says man’s heart plans his way. (Pro 16:9) That means we get ideas and then we start to plan on how that idea is going to work. That may be okay, but we need to make sure that idea is from the Lord first! (1 Chr 28:11-12) Then David gave his son Solomon . . . the plans for all that he had by the Spirit, of the courts of the house of the LORD . . . David wanted to build the Temple, but God said his son Solomon would build it. But David could at least work on the plans, and that he did. I can only imagine his excitement in writing all his ideas down and the diagrams he made. It was all given to him by the Lord. And when God gives you something, it will just start flowing and there will be an ease to it.
Remember what James said about being ambitious about our own personal plans? (James 4:13-16) Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; 14 whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. 15 Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” 16 But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. Let’s make sure we’re working God’s agenda and not our own!
Once we have the plan of the Lord we can be confident He is directing our steps. (Psa 37:23) The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD, And He delights in his way. I love the story of Philip and how he was directed by the Spirit to lead the Ethiopian eunuch to the Lord. (Acts 8:26-27) Now an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, "Arise and go toward the south along the road which goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza." This is desert. 27 So he arose and went. And behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace the queen of the Ethiopians, who had charge of all her treasury, and had come to Jerusalem to worship. Let’s take our cues from the Master director!
It’s nice to know the Lord is directing, especially when things start going wrong. (Pro 20:24) A man's steps are of the LORD; How then can a man understand his own way? I think of the disciples on the boat during the storm and how they failed to trust in the Lord. Sounds like me! (Mat 8:23-26) Now when He got into a boat, His disciples followed Him. 24 And suddenly a great tempest arose on the sea, so that the boat was covered with the waves. But He was asleep. 25 Then His disciples came to Him and awoke Him, saying, "Lord, save us! We are perishing!" 26 But He said to them, "Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?" Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.
Home movies are supposed to be fun to watch. Are you relaxing, and are you letting the Lord direct your life? Popcorn anyone?
