(Eze 33:16) "None of his sins which he has committed shall be remembered against him . . .
Did you ever hear of the story where someone sent everyone in town a threatening note? The note said something like this, “If you don’t leave town by noon tomorrow I’ll tell everyone what you did.” By noon the next day half the town was gone!
There can be a definite struggle with guilt over what we have done wrong in the past. We harbor regrets and lament over our misdeeds and bonehead decisions and judgments. But enough of that! We can’t change the past, but we do seem to let that remorse rob us of our current potential and effectiveness. We say we’re not worthy to serve the Lord because we know what we have done. We don’t need someone to write us a letter to remind us. We hear those bones rattling in that closet and we hope no one ever goes in there. Behind that locked door lies not a happy faced skeleton but a hideous reminder of the past that knocks in the present. Is there anything we can do with Mr. Bones?
Listen to David talk about bones: (Psa 22:14) I am poured out like water, And all My bones are out of joint; My heart is like wax; It has melted within Me . . . (Psa 22:17) I can count all My bones. They look and stare at Me. That’s a prophecy about Jesus who would come and die on the cross. He would expose His bones, so He could conceal ours.
You should take a fresh look into that closet you’ve been so mortified about. You’ll find out it’s empty. That old vertebrate had no spine to stick around. He’s gone to haunt someone else who doesn’t understand grace. The Lord has no bone to pick with you!
Now you’ve got a new set of bones talking. And here’s what they’re saying: (Psa 35:10) All my bones shall say, "LORD, who is like You, Delivering the poor from him who is too strong for him, Yes, the poor and the needy from him who plunders him?"
Nothing can keep you from serving the Lord now. (Jer 20:9) Then I said, "I will not make mention of Him, Nor speak anymore in His name." But His word was in my heart like a burning fire Shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, And I could not.
As we walk with Jesus we’ll never have anything to be ashamed about. (Isa 58:11) The LORD will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.
Now go out and speak grace into people’s lives. (Eze 37:4-5) Again He said to me, "Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, 'O dry bones, hear the word of the LORD! 5 'Thus says the Lord GOD to these bones: "Surely I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live. What good news for those who are bone-tired and who hear the tattle of the rattle in the closet!
