For God is not the author of confusion but of peace . . . (1 Cor 14:33)
When we set out for our day we usually hope that everything will go smooth and keep simple. When things bog down and get difficult it is at these times we wonder if we should press on or pull back. How do you know which way to go when obstructions invade your comfort zone?
I can do CHALLENGING. In fact, I know the Word says God brings challenging situations in my life to mature my faith. (James 1:2-4) My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.
And I can do CHANGING. If God changes my plans, then I must be flexible and let Him show me the pathway I should be on. I don’t want to be anywhere else but where He wants me to be. (Mat 26:39) . . . not as I will, but as You will."
But I don’t do COMPLICATED! God is the author of peace, not confusion. Once things change from challenging or changing to complicated, then I need to have the good sense to back off and take time to seek the Lord. Am I going in a direction that is not of the Lord? Am I going in the right direction but proceeding in the wrong way? Am I rushing or forcing things and not waiting on the Lord?
Life doesn’t have to be so involved, elaborate, entangled, convoluted, complex, or complicated. God has called us to enjoy this life and keep things simple. Maybe all we need to do is to commit the situation to the Lord and then sleep on it. Tomorrow might be the day my answer comes to me. If not, then God is saying to back off still. I might even have to completely abort my immediate plans and let it go into God’s hands for a future time. Since I don’t know God’s will at times or the future at any time then placing my trust in the Lord is the safest thing to do.
It’s so great to have God’s peace. Life for me used to be so hard because I usually made it hard. I don’t know why it took me so long to learn this. The way will open up for me in God’s appointed time. Until then I have the freedom in the Lord to say . . . I DON’T DO COMPLICATED!!
