(Mat 16:24) Then Jesus said to His disciples, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.
Have you seen some of these Xtreme games (X games) on TV? They are amazing! What people can do on a motorcycle or a bicycle or a skateboard or whatever form of sport. It’s all about pushing it to the limits . . . and beyond the limits. People watch and are in awe of what these competitors can do. They consider the risks but count the thrill of the ride and the reward of the achievement more important. We respect them because they are so hardcore for the cause and for how they break out of the ordinary and comfortable . . . something most people rarely do.
But did you know we can all go Xtreme for Jesus? We might not be able to achieve an aerial feat, but we can do something radical for the greatest cause of all . . . and that’s following Jesus, without holding anything back. How many Christians are Xtreme in their commitment for Christ? We admit it’s not easy to do what Jesus said to do. Deny yourself? Take up your cross (death to yourself and your will), and follow the Master?
Jesus was Xtreme. The apostles were Xtreme. How about you? Are you tired of being an ordinary Christian? Are you ready to go all out for the Lord and to really make a difference for Christ in this world we live in? How do you break out of the average, the normal, the commonplace and take your stand for Jesus when others are content to be spectators in this intense spiritual competition we are in daily? It all starts with falling in love with Jesus.
(Mat 22:37) Jesus said to him, " 'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.'
You see when you’re in love you will sacrifice anything for the object of your desires. Your desire will stoke your fire and that’s how you will go higher (Xtreme) for the Lord.
It’s time to push past the limits and be Xtreme for the King so that others will see how exciting following Jesus can really be!
