Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You. (Psa 73:25)
Do you ever feel like no one understands you? That sometimes your family or maybe even your friends aren’t listening or are too busy to dial into your feelings and concerns? That’s a weird feeling isn’t it? It’s a feeling of loneliness that is accentuated by a lack of concern. You wish you just had somebody to let it all hang out on but “ain’t no one in la casa.” What do you do during these times?
I think the Lord allows these times so that we might learn to draw near to Him. You see, He’s the One that will always be there for you. It’s so common to run to people when we have a problem when the Lord is so adequate to meet our needs. Sometimes we have to strike out with people so we will look upward. No one understands like Jesus! And what will Jesus be to you? He will be your:
- Friend - (John 15:15) "No longer do I call you servants . . . I have called you friends . . .
- Counselor - (Isa 9:6) . . . And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor . . .
- Wisdom - (Col 2:3) . . . in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
- Guide - (Luke 1:79) . . . To guide our feet into the way of peace."
The next time you feel like you’re not connecting, it could be the Lord is trying to connect with you. Tell Jesus everything and let Him speak to your heart through His Word. Spend time with Him and I guarantee that feeling of detachment with people will turn into a genuine care and concern for others around you. Then you can enjoy people without holding anything against them because you felt neglected. Jesus meets every need we have. Do you have a relationship with the Lord like this? How wonderful to know and to really experience this blessed truth . . . that . . . No one understands like Jesus!
No one understands like Jesus
When the days are dark and grim
No one is so near, so dear as Jesus
Cast your ev'ry care on Him (John W. Peterson)
