WHEN YOU DON’T FEEL LIKE IT

(2 Tim 4:2) Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.

Do you ever feel “out of it”? Most of the time, you say? The Bible calls it “out of season”. It always feels good to be “with it” or “in season” but many times we just deal with life more out of obligation than inspiration. And there’s nothing particularly wrong with that. Life is sometimes dull and gray but you still have to function regardless. There are things to do and people who are dependent upon you and you have to keep it in forward motion when you’d rather just relax or at the most take a walk along the beach. Paul told Timothy to be ready to serve the Lord and share His Word whether you feel like it or not. Whether you feel mired or inspired. Whether you feel in season or out of season . . . or even out to lunch! We might get tired but let’s not retire. We can get weary in the work but let us not get weary of the work for we shall reap if we do not faint (Gal 6:9). When your “get up and go” has “got up and left”, switch to the “God-gear”, and let the Lord do the driving and inspiring.

Jesus was tired one day so He sat by a well to rest. But He didn’t rest for long because a woman came to the well to draw water that needed a lot more than a little H2O. She needed the living water of Jesus Christ. When we are tired we have to keep going because there are people who need the Lord. May the Lord keep you inspired through His Word and through His Spirit so you may serve in His name . . . even when you don’t feel like it.

(Isa 40:31) But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
