WE’RE BLESSED!

(Num 23:20) Behold, I have received a command to bless; He has blessed, and I cannot reverse it.

God loves to bless His children. Hard to believe, isn’t it? You know, we feel so unworthy and all. We fail and fall but God’s love is always abounding toward us. It certainly was toward the children of Israel. They had just experienced another one of their self-imposed episodes of unbelief and complained about the desert conditions to the Lord. God sent fiery serpents among them which killed many. God told Moses to set up a bronze fiery serpent and whoever looked on it was healed (Num 21).

Next up was King Balak of Moab who hired Balaam to curse the children of Israel. But Balaam ended up blessing them instead. (Num 22-24). Isn’t that just like the Lord? He ends up blessing them after their failings. Why does God do that? It’s to overwhelm us with His mercy and to draw us to Him by His grace. Who wouldn’t want to serve a God like this who is so faithful and forgiving? If You, LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with You, That You may be feared. (Psa 130:3-4)

God wants to bless you. Of course you don’t deserve it but this is what Jabez prayed: . . . "Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!" So God granted him what he requested. (1 Chr 4:10) Don’t we love to bless our kids? Even after they’ve been bad we just can’t help pouring our love upon them. We are God’s kids by faith in Jesus Christ and God desires “bless our boots off”.

Are you experiencing God’s love and grace lately? Are you under self-imposed condemnation because you sense your failure to measure up to God’s standards? Then let your roots grow down deep into the soil of God’s love so you can bear fruit for the Lord (Eph 3:17-19). Ask Him now to love and bless you and shower you with His grace once again.
