THE NEXT STEP

(Acts 2:46) So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart.

The Bible declares that we are no longer strangers to each other but are members of the household of God (Eph 2:19). That means we are family. Let me explain what a church family is this way:

F - Forever united in Christ

A - All things in common

M - Mending fences when relationships are strained

I - Inviting others into your heart and home

L - Lonely no longer

Y - Yielding for the cause of others

The early disciples were desirous of fellowship with one another. They wanted more than just the Sunday morning experience. They desired to be with other Christians so they met not only in the temple, but also went to each other’s houses. They didn’t rush home after service but spent time in fellowship with their brethren in Christ.

Church happens when just two or three gather together (Mat 18:20). It could be in the parking lot after church or in the aisle of the grocery store when you bump into a fellow believer. It is also planned times when you make an attempt to get together and encourage each other in the Lord. The wolf picks off the isolated believer and there is always strength in numbers.

I would like to challenge you to take the next step and to immerse yourself in fellowship with God’s people. Don’t dwell off to the side. Jesus found Zacchaeus up in a tree all by himself and said He was coming over for dinner. The invitation goes out to you as well to enjoy not only fellowship with the Lord (Rev 3:20) but also fellowship with God’s people where His special presence dwells. What an awesome family we belong to!
