. . . as long as he sought the LORD, God made him prosper. (2 Chr 26:5)
Everybody wants to prosper. There are all those game shows because we like to see people prosper. People dream about prosperity, work hard to achieve prosperity, and sometimes even gamble and take risks to arrive at prosperity. Even some of the “faith” preachers advocate that God wants all His children healthy and wealthy at all times. But what is true prosperity?
Uzziah was a king that experienced true prosperity. The Bible says as long as he sought the Lord, God make him prosper. The Bible word for prosper means “to advance, make progress, to bring to success”. It means that as we pray and seek the Lord in our life, God will advance us along to a successful desired end. It says nothing about being rich or wealthy, it just means that God will bring a wonderful conclusion to all the outstanding issues in our lives as we give them to the Lord.
So the question is . . . do we pray about everything like Uzziah did? The big things and the little things? I have to admit that sometimes I forget. But God reminds when things aren’t going well that maybe I didn’t pray. How patient the Lord is with me!
May the Lord help us to bring everything before Him in prayer and not take it for granted that we have a God who will guide us in all our affairs if we would just take the time to pray.
(Pro 3:6) In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
(Mat 6:33) "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
