(Acts 1:3) to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.
In a court of law, you must prove your case by testimony and evidence. That being established you are pretty well assured a ruling in your favor. We believe Jesus rose from the dead, but we also have a plurality of witnesses to verify the fact. Between the resurrection and the ascension there were forty days where Jesus appeared ten times in what we call a post-resurrection appearance. He appeared to people who were all alone, He appeared to a few here and there, and he even appeared to a crowd of five hundred. That’s what you call “many infallible proofs.” Here’s a list of the Lord’s post-resurrection appearances in their most probable chronological order with the scriptural references provided.
Mary Magdalene - Mark 16:9-11; John 20:10-18
The other women at the tomb - Matthew 28:8-10
Peter in Jerusalem - Luke 24:34; 1 Corinthians 15:5
The two travelers on the road to Emmaus - Mark 16:12-13; Luke 24:13-32
Ten disciples behind closed doors - Luke 24:36-43; John 20:19-25
All the eleven, with Thomas present - John 20:26-28
Seven disciples while fishing - John 21:1-14
A crowd of 500 - Matthew 28:16-20; Mark 16:15-18; 1 Corinthians 15:6
Jesus' half-brother James - 1 Corinthians 15:7
His disciples at his ascension - Luke 24:44-49; Acts 1:4-12
But remember there is more than just the fact of the resurrection . . . there is also faith in the Person of the resurrection. And when you put your faith in Jesus Christ for the salvation you need . . . you can add your life to the list of many infallible proofs!
