(Exo 14:13) . . . Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD . . .
You want to know what most of life is? Just showing up. You want in on a big key to success? Just show up. You want to know what is more productive than blood, sweat, and tears? Just showing up days into years.
God was ready to part the Red Sea for the Israelites. And all he told Moses to do was to show up at the water’s edge. The greatest exertion he made that day was to hold his rod over sea as the Lord divided the water. But think about it. What if Moses didn’t show up that day? What if he was so frightened by the pursuing Egyptian army that he stayed in bed or if he strayed and fled? All he did was show up and God did the rest.
Are you overestimating your importance? Are you overexerting your energies? Why do you wear yourself out so much when all you have to do is show up? Now of course this doesn’t mean to be lazy or unprepared. We are to do our part. But when it comes right down to it, the Lord takes it from there and does a miracle.
You are not a miracle worker, a magician, Hercules, Superman, or a rescue response worker for all of humankind. You are just you and the Bible says we are to have a proper estimation of ourselves. (Rom 12:3) For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.
God is the strong and mighty One and all He is looking for is willing persons who will just be faithful to show up. Because once we show up it shows God we are ready for Him to work. Then God parts the Red Sea and we walk over onto the other side. The enemy is wiped out and we start dancing in victory. But it all started by just showing up!
Are you being faithful to show up? You don’t have to be strong. You don’t have to be smart. You don’t have to be talented. But do you show up ready for God to work it all out?
(Exo 14:13-14) And Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. 14 "The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace."
Who gave you your job? Who gave you your family? Who provided you with wonderful opportunities? Those blessings have turned into responsibilities but sometimes they can feel like burdens. But you don’t have to carry all that weight. You don’t have to blow up. All you have to do is show up and watch God part the Sea. See you on the other side!
