(Mat 21:9) Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: "Hosanna to the Son of David! 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!' Hosanna in the highest!"
When a person is in terrible trouble usually there is a desperate cry for help. The person could be the most prestigious person in the community, or the most good looking, or even the ultimate of cool, but in an alarming emergency all guards come down and the person is driven to cry, “Somebody help me!”
This is the cry Jesus waits for from each person on earth. He longs to save each and every soul (John 3:16) and is not willing that any should perish (2 Pet 3:9). But the Lord won’t save until a person feels the critical need of salvation and cries out for the only One who can help. God gives a free will to each individual and will stand outside knocking on their heart’s door until it is freely opened to the Savior (Rev 3:20).
When Jesus came into Jerusalem on that day we call “Palm Sunday”, the crowds shouted out “Hosanna!” which means “Save me now!” Many got caught up in the festive proclamation and hosannas filled the air. But it is interesting that just a few days later they were shouting “Crucify Him!” You see, there are many who get excited about Jesus coming into their lives but how many really realize what this means and the claim Jesus will be making on their lives. But for those who are anxious about their spiritual condition and cry out in sincerity, “Hosanna” and ask the Lord to save them, Jesus will come and bring His glorious salvation!:
(Jer 29:13) And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.
Are we desperate enough to call upon the name of the Lord today? If you do, the Lord will save you!
“...behold, now is the day of salvation.” (2 Cor 6:2)
For "whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved." (Rom 10:13)
Do I hear a “hosanna”?
