(John 1:11) He came to His own . . . (1 Th 4:16) For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven . . .
What do you think . . . is there life on other planets? It’s been a question for a long time now. Science is pursing the possibility through the satellite probes we are sending out there. They’ve given us images and there might be evidence of water which means a life form could exist. Then you have science fiction, which has pursued the query through films and books, etc. And what about all the reported sightings of UFOs? Some are off the wall, but some reports might make you think there is writing on the wall.
What I ponder is what makes us think about such things anyway? There seems to be a natural curiosity about what is out there beyond our galaxy. Why? Could it be that man is looking to get in touch with what is beyond this life? Is it a pursuit for meaning in the universe? Is it in hopes of a better life than the one we’ve got here on earth? We spend billions but what do we get in return? Pictures of desolate remoteness. But we keep on searching . . .
But there has been communication from beyond our own planet: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16) Just think of it . . . the Creator of the universe loved us so much He initiated a relationship with us by sending His Son into time from eternity. He was the Word of God and He became a man to communicate God’s plan of salvation to us. And what was the plan? That Jesus would die for our sins and rise again and offer us redemption through His blood that we might be reconciled with the Father. So, we could be in touch with the One from beyond . . . who dwells in that place called heaven . . . and all we have to do is reach out to Him through the gift of His Son whom He graciously sent.
Jesus has come. But He wasn’t a UFO because He wasn’t unidentifiable! His coming was predicted by the prophets and He came as it was said of Him. And He’s coming again. It’s going to be an appearance in the clouds to take His own out of the world, transfer them through the cosmos, and safely deposit them into His presence for an eternal forever. The world won’t see Him. To them He will be a UFO but for us a “Way to Go!”
UFOs? I don’t know. There’s something else I’m thinking about. One of these days I’m going to fly the friendly skies of the knighted!
